With the end of the second world war, the Allies and with them especially the Americans occupied Salzburg. evenings were probably calm and quiet at the platoon, so that one night a tank with a tipsy crew set off for Steingasse. The goal: the brothel “Maison de Plaisir”. Unfortunately, the soldiers underestimated the width of the Steingasse alley, so that their tank got stuck inbetween the houses. Still today, the missing piece of wall at the corner of the house Giselakai 11 (which is today a cinema) bears witness to this incident. Legend or fact, who cares? It’s a good story, reminiscent of the most tragic days of the 20th century. Regardless, hose owners preserve this little piece of history by not repairing the missing wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
