What is inside?\r\nFind the answer!<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The full stroy of the Archduches&#8217;s empty pyramid?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The fifth and favorite daughter of Empress Maria Theresa, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maria_Christina,_Duchess_of_Teschen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Archduchess Maria Christina,<\/a> died in 1798, at the age of 56. The Habsburgs Royals, almost all of them, are buried in the imperial crypt of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Capuchin_Church,_Vienna\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kapuzinerkirche<\/a> and so is our heroine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Albert_Casimir,_Duke_of_Teschen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Prince Albert of Saxony<\/a>, widow of Christina, had the privilege to order a cenotaph for his beloved wife. Maria Christina and Albert did marry loving each other, a rare event in the imperial family as her sisters, and brothers, all married for political reasons to benefit the dynasty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He decided to commission the project to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Antonio_Canova\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Antonio Canova<\/a><\/em>, &nbsp;and build an empty pyramid in the church where many of the Habsburg events had taken place ( many imperial weddings happened here, like those of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maria_Theresa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maria Theresa<\/a> herself with the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Francis_I,_Holy_Roman_Emperor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Duke Francis of Lorraine<\/a> in 1736, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Napoleon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Napoleon Bonaparte<\/a> of France to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marie_Louise,_Duchess_of_Parma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Archduchess Marie Louise<\/a> in 1810, or the wedding of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Franz_Joseph_I_of_Austria\">Emperor Franz Joseph<\/a> in 1854 to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Empress_Elisabeth_of_Austria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Empress Elisabeth of Austria<\/a>, Sissi, the Augustinerkirche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.planative.net\/untoldplaces\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/01\/P4041447.jpg?resize=640%2C960&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3176\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The monument is a pyramid, with the inscription \u201c<strong>UXORI OPTIMAE ALBERTUS<\/strong>\u201d above the entrance, (<em>Albert to the best of wives<\/em>).
